Contrasts
You know what will really screw with your head? Spending a few hours working in a charity shop trying to raise money to eradicate world poverty, and then coming home and researching how much local wedding venues cost.
Sure, you get some perspective, but you also feel a strange desire to just get married in the register's office and donate the thousands of pounds to something a bit more worthwhile, you know?

The great thing about weddings that the wedding industry will never tell you is that you can choose how much or how little you want to hook in to a traditional wedding. Unless you want to (and are lucky enough to be able to afford to or are having your wedding paid for by people who think otherwise), you don't have to follow any wedding rules. That should free you up some. I know that's not the point of this post, but I wanted to share anyway, and I think the wedding industry insanity just can't be as bad where you are as it is in Texas!

Yeah, we're looking at venues, too. I'm not going for an extravagant wedding, but I'd like to have it someplace nice, you know? I had to lie down when we got the first cost estimate.

Yes, I know ... it is just a day. The important thing is the many days after that day ... chill!
