Lucky Charms

I don't think my lucky underwear still work. When I was a senior in college, I had this pair of lucky underwear. (Not that kind of lucky.) I wore those undies every Saturday and for ever Oklahoma football game. The team went undefeated and we won a National Championship. I then lost them while traveling on a fraternity event. I found them four months later while packing for another trip. There they were in a pocket in my suitcase. I think they're trying to escape. To be honest with you, I don't know where this particular pair of underwear is right now.

BOOMER!

Well, since my lucky underwear is half escape artist, the next year I crissened one of my favorite OU shirts as my lucky shirt. I wore that shirt every Saturday for every Oklahoma football game. The team did really well. It wasn't a National Championship, but we beat texas which made it all worth it. I don't think that shirt still works either, but at least I know where it is.

Last year, I made my lucky shirt long sleeved. (Come on. O! actually gets an autumn and was chilly.) I wore it every Saturday. Ok, most Saturdays because the first few were too warm for sleeves. But I wore it for most of the season and the Sooners did ok. I broke a sweat a few times, but it did the job. The Sooners beat the Huskers that year. (That alone made it totally worth the sweat.)

Well, tomorrow is the first home game. I'm a little excited. (Maybe you haven't noticed?) However, I don't think any of my past lucky articles of clothing are going to be particularly charged and ready to go. So, now I have a dilemma. I don't know what I'm going to do. I have several fantastically stylish Oklahoma shirts (with both lengths of sleeves) that I could wear, but I don't know which one will bring my boys the most luck. See? Such a dilemma. I mean, I will probably still pull out the old standbys and hope they have some luck left in the bottom or in the corners.

SOONER!

Wow. I have been in baseball too long. I have never been this superstitious before. Although, I still don't step on the foul line when I walk onto a diamond. But seriously, I don't know which shirt will be my lucky shirt this year. I honestly don't even know how the team is going to fix some of the problems that showed up over the summer. (*coughRhettBomarcough*) I hope and I secretly know that they'll do well. However, one more of my many superstitions is that I can't be too confident this early in the season.

However, I am truly excited that tomorrow is the first full day of collge football. (I know it started Thursday night, but those games don't count.) Each year when the season starts, it's like waking up from hibernation. It's like embarking on five months of nothing but ice cream for dinner. It is the most fantastic way to spend my Saturdays. I have something exciting to look forward to each week. And yes, I get up early and watch College Game Day on ESPN. (Which is TWO HOURS this year! TWO! HOURS!) Tomorrow! I cannot wait!

Now, if only I could find my lucky underwear.

Comments

I have a pair of lucky OU basketball shorts from college that I got on my first trip to Norman. But now that I think about it, those shorts were that other kind of lucky, so maybe that's not quite what you're looking for.

Anyway, they were very comfortable!

I bought some lucky OU earrings last year when I got my ears pierced, but I couldn't wear them because of the wedding last Saturday. Oh, and when I was in high school, my toenails were painted "T-Bird," which was a color of tealish-blue all fall for marching band season for good luck. Not that I was superstitious or anything...
Thanks for coming up this weekend! It was fun :-)
