Little Miss has no table manners. It's really terrible. She shows her food to everyone...

She picks her nose...

And she won't use her silverware...

Lovely, isn't it?
The girls and I went to the base exchange today. While we were there we had to make the inevitable potty visit. I took my turn, and when I did, Lou dropped her drink and it spilled everywhere. Me being the mom I am, I told Lou it was fine. No big deal, we just need to clean it up. Lou was really upset. I'm not sure why, but she thought she was going to get in trouble. I just kept telling her that it was okay while I cleaned it up. As I was finishing up, a lady came out of her stall and said to me, "I just wanted you to know that I think you're a really sweet mom". What a compliment! I know I'm a good mom. Plenty of people have told me so, but when a compliment like that comes from a complete stranger... I just don't even know what to say! The rest of the day was good, too. We got a phone call from The Mister this morning. That's always good news.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there! Hope you have a wonderful day. I know I'll be spending most of it hugging on my two little munchkins. And a special thanks to the man who made me a mom. Thank you. It's the best gift you could ever have given me.
I didn't actually sign up for the May Day Project, but I probably should have. I've got tons of pictures to share with you. Sorry if it's painfully slow loading.
12:03 am - We're leaving Wal-Mart after the tornado scare.

11:59 am - I'm on my way to my father-in-law's graduation from the University of Oklahoma and took a picture of the Love's sign at I-240 and Sooner Rd. that was damaged in the tornado on the 8th.

12:00 pm - Another photo of the damage at I-240 and Sooner Rd. This is the GM plant in the distance.

12:00 pm - Last photo of the damage at I-240 and Sooner Rd. This is, or rather was, the bank on the south west side of 240.

2:41 pm - My newly graduated father-in-law with my sisters-in-law, Carla and Jaime. Way to go!

2:42 pm - Me with my father-in-law. Did I mention how proud we all are?

2:45 pm - This is the clock tower outside the OU library. Sure brings back lots of good memories.

4:22 pm - This is a building on I-35 at 12th St. in Moore. We're on our way to a birthday party over near Yukon. Happy 1st Birthday, Megan!

5:04 pm - Lou at the birthday party. She's finally beginning to understand that you have to hold still when getting your picture taken.

5:05 pm - Little Miss at the birthday party. I don't know, I thought the cake was fine...

7:37 pm - Larissa, Carla and I are going to see X2.

10:53 pm - We're finally headed home. Little Miss was worn out!

10:53 pm - Lou was wide awake, though!

What was supposed to be a girls night out with mom and my sister and my girls, turned in to a night of total chaos. Yesterday we missed the tornado that ran through Midwest City by a mile and a half. Today we missed yet another tornado on the other side of town by just a mile or so. We went to Old Navy and Penn Square Mall and then decided to go to the Wal-Mart right next to the mall. We should have gone home. Not long after we got there, the sirens started going off. Everyone was ushered to the back of the store and pillows and comforters were ripped open and handed out. There were bike helmets for all of the kidlets. We sat and waited, listening to the rain pounding the roof of the store. We were listening to second and third hand reports passed down from the people who were near enough to the sole radio to hear what was being said. Luckily, the tornado completely passed us by. (I'm convinced the tornadoes are following me.) Little Miss slept through the whole thing and Lou was just irritated that she had to sit still with a bike helmet on, covered by a blanket, sitting in my lap, and clutching a pillow. We're fine, all of my family near damage is fine, and there haven't been any injuries at all reported yet. I hope it stays that way. Now, I'm going to bed. I'm beat!
*Edited to add: The first injuries have been reported. 5 injuries so far and another tornado on the ground in Stroud.
I have never been so happy to see a Monday. The yard sale went well. Little Miss's birthday was a blast, and I've finally been able to catch up on some of the sleep I missed. There are pictures over in the gallery from Little Miss's birthday. There are more to come, but I just didn't feel like getting them all up there today. Little Miss got a lot of cute little outfits for her birthday. The cutest from me, of course. It's a little OU Sooners sundress. Too cute. I got my CD's made and packaged for the spring edition of Burn It. They'll go out in the mail tomorrow. Hope everyone else's weekend was great!
What Would You Be?
by Dr. SeussIf you'd never been born, well then what would you be?
You might be a fish! Or a toad in a tree!
You might be a doorknob! Or three baked potatoes!
You might be a bag of hard green tomatoes!
Or worse than all that- why, you might be a WASN'T!
A WASN'T has no fun at all. No, he doesn't.
A WASN'T just isn't. He just isn't present.
But you- you ARE YOU! And now, isn't that pleasant?
Today you are you! That is truer than true!
There is no one alive who is you-er than you!
Shout loud, "I am lucky to be what I am!
Thank goodness I'm not just a clam or a ham!
Or a dusty old jar of sour gooseberry jam!
I am what I am! That's a great thing to be!
If I say so myself, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!"
Little Miss was born on May 1, 2002 at 11:40pm in North Carolina. She was 9lbs 1oz and 20 inches long. I can't believe my baby has gone from rolling over to crawling to walking. She says wow and wee and loves to swing. She says thanks when you give her food. She loves to say Daddy and she adores her big sister. She has this wonderful personality that is all her own. My only regret is that her Daddy isn't here to see what a wonderful little person she has become. Happy 1st birthday Little Miss. We love you!
